Peppermint

The plant

Although mint has been traced back to ancient Egypt, its use is relatively recent. In the 17th century, it was hybridized between three mints, resulting in a more aromatic species: Mentha piperita. Peppermint extract contributes to the body's natural defenses and helps with indigestion.
